Your Car’s Secret Button Might Save Thanksgiving
At Joe Davis Autosport

Welcome to the month where time speeds up, pants tighten, and suddenly your calendar looks like a game of Tetris—except everything's a family obligation, and nothing fits.
Ah yes—November. That magical time when you blink mid-bite at Thanksgiving dinner and suddenly it’s New Year’s Eve.
Whether you're gearing up to drive across the state to see relatives, heading to King of Prussia for a Black Friday marathon (good luck with parking, soldier), or just making the all-important liquor store run for Thanksgiving Eve—your car is going to be doing a lot of the heavy lifting.
So before you hit the road to your warm vacation spot, your in-laws’ house (stay strong), or just your own dining room for a family feast—make sure your vehicle’s ready to handle the ride.
Because nothing says “Happy Holidays” like a flat tire in mall traffic.
A MESSAGE FROM JOE

The Only Thing to Fear…
There’s a moment, every year, when the trees finally let go. One gust of wind, and the last few leaves drift gently to the ground. And standing there, watching it happen, I’m reminded how hard it is for us—humans—to do the same. To let go. To surrender. To stop holding on to fear.
Fear is strange. It doesn’t always roar. Sometimes it tiptoes in quietly, dressed up like practicality. It tells you, “Play it safe.” It whispers, “Don’t dream too big. Don’t open your heart too wide. Don’t love too much—just in case.”
But if we’re honest with ourselves—and I think November has a way of drawing that out—most of the things we don’t do, the words we don’t say, the chances we never take… they’re not because we can’t. They’re because we’re afraid.
And that fear? It’s a thief.
It steals our time.
It steals our laughter.
It steals the life we were meant to live.
FDR once said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” And I believe he meant that once we stop giving fear the keys to the car, we can finally go somewhere.
Carl Jung spoke of the unconscious—of all the parts of us we bury deep down: our longings, our hurts, our brilliance. He said that if we ignore them, they quietly direct our lives. But if we face them, if we bring them into the light, we begin to awaken.
And that’s what fear is trying to keep in the dark—your potential.
Your voice.
Your joy.
Your freedom.
The truth is, every single one of us has something special—something we might call a superpower. Maybe it’s your empathy. Maybe it’s your courage. Maybe it’s the way you keep showing up for people, even when no one sees it. We all have something strong and steady inside us… but fear convinces us we don’t.
And I get it. I’ve felt that voice too. Even now. At this age. With all the things I’ve seen and survived and built… fear still visits. It tells me I’ve made too many mistakes. That it’s too late to change something. That maybe I don’t have one more climb left in me.
But here’s what I’ve learned:
When I act like things will work out, more often than not… they do.
And when I expect life to show up with something good, it usually does.
Not always in the way I thought—but often better.
It’s as if the universe leans in and says, “There you are. I was waiting for you to believe in yourself.”
So this November, I hope you give yourself permission to let go. To loosen your grip on whatever fear has been holding you back. To take one brave breath. To say the thing. To try the thing. To feel it all.
Because when you open your heart—yes, it’s vulnerable.
But that’s also where the magic lives.
As Jung wrote, "Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes."
And I’ll add this:
You don’t have to be fearless.
You just have to be willing.
Wishing you warmth, courage, and the kind of peace that sneaks up on you in the quiet,
Joe
Fueled by Facts, Useless but Fun

The word “tire” is actually short for “attire”—as in, clothing. Back in the day (we’re talking horse-drawn carriage days), wheels were made of wood, and the outer metal bands added for durability were literally called attires. They were the wheel’s “outfit” for the road.
Fast forward to the age of automobiles, and that concept stuck. Rubber tires became the modern version of that protective layer, still “dressing” the wheel for the journey ahead.
So yes—your car is, technically, dressed to drive.
And now you have permission to refer to a flat tire as a wardrobe malfunction.
The Forgotten Features in Your Car You Never Knew Existed
(But Should Be Using)
European cars are brilliant, precise… and sometimes a little weird. One of the quirkiest things about them? They’re packed with hidden features you probably never knew you had—unless you read your owner’s manual cover to cover (and let’s be real, who does that?).
Here are a few of our favorite “secret” features hiding in plain sight:
Auto Hold – Press the “AUTO H” button (BMW, Audi, Mercedes, VW, Volvo) and your car holds the brake for you at stoplights. No more foot cramps or rolling backward on hills.
Rear Fog Light – That “mystery button” near your headlight switch isn’t broken. It activates an extra-bright rear light so other drivers can see you in fog or heavy rain. (Pro tip: don’t use it on clear days unless you want angry looks.)
Tire Pressure Reset – After filling your tires, your car wants you to hit reset so it can recalibrate. Skip this step and the “Check Tire Pressure” light may haunt you unnecessarily.
Hands-Free Hatch – On many newer SUVs, a quick kick under the bumper opens the rear hatch. Just be sure it’s a kick, not a slow swipe—we’ve practiced enough in the parking lot to know the difference.
Comfort Exit – Some cars slide the seat back or move the steering wheel away when you shut off the car, making it easier to get in and out. It’s like your car saying, “Allow me.”
Rest Function – In certain Mercedes and BMWs, the “REST” button keeps the cabin warm using leftover engine heat—no idling required. Perfect for winter coffee runs.
👉 Most drivers never discover these features because nobody explains them, and manuals are… well, boring. But they’re worth using! You paid for them, after all.
Next time you’re in, ask us to show you something your car can do that you didn’t know about—we love pulling back the curtain on all those hidden European tricks.

Prefer to drop your car off the night before? Even better. Our 24/7 key drop box is always open and waiting. And here’s a fun fact: our techs roll in an hour before we even open. That means your car can get looked at before most people have their first cup of coffee.
Inspection Time: No Surprises (Except Maybe How Good We Are)
Once we’ve got your car, we start with the reason you came in—oil change, weird noise, mystery light on the dash, etc. But then we go a step further.
We perform a courtesy digital vehicle inspection on every car. We take photos, check over your car from bumper to bumper, and send you a report straight to your phone. Because nothing says “we’ve got your back” like a crystal-clear look at what we’re seeing under the hood. You can approve or decline any recommended work right from your phone or just give us a ring. Nate, our Service Manager, will walk you through it all—step by step, question by question. He’ll even talk to you about lawn care or the best fishing gear if you want. He’s versatile like that.
The Work Begins
Once you give us the green light, we order the necessary parts, knock out the work, and keep you updated the entire time. When the job’s done, it goes through a final quality control check because we don’t send anything out that we wouldn’t put our own families in.
Picking Up? We Keep It Easy
When your vehicle is ready, we’ll call you. You can: Pay in person, or Use our secure text-to-pay link if you’re still in your slippers. PSA: We offer Affirm (90 Days Same as Cash) as a payment option

Pro Tip: Inspections Require Paperwork
Coming in for a PA state inspection? Don’t forget your current insurance card and vehicle registration. It’s like showing up to the DMV without your soul—completely useless without those documents.
