Shift Happens

At Joe Davis Autosport

Welcome to April—the month that has you doing an impromptu sprint from your car to your house, grocery bags in hand, to dodge that sudden rain shower. It’s a season of change AND a great time to invest in Eye-Drop stocks! (No? … Just me? My eyes are literally watering just writing this).

And while we’re all busy perfecting our “wet dash” technique, April has plenty of holidays to keep things interesting. The fun pranks of April Fools, the festive Sunday of Easter — and then there’s Earth Day… when we all feel a little guilty about those extra miles.

But April isn’t just a season of sneezes and reassuring you have a hoodie handy, it’s also a season of change. As nature transforms, we're all nudged to embrace a little metamorphosis in our lives. Take a moment to appreciate the beauty of new beginnings that April brings! Speaking of beauties (was that a good transition?) - we at Joe Davis Autosport are excited to share our shop updates, Spring specials, useful tips, and a whole lot more. So grab your morning brew, a cozy sweater (that you’ll be sweating to take off by noon) - and let’s get into it!

The Porch Paradox: Re-Discovering Community in a Fenced in World

A Message From Joe Davis

Once upon a time—not in some distant fairy tale, but in the very neighborhoods where we grew up—community wasn’t just a word; it was a way of life. The front porch was our social hub, our town square, and our confessional booth, all rolled into one. It was where neighbors swapped stories, shared wisdom, and, on occasion, exaggerated fishing tales.

Conversations weren’t planned; they just happened—spontaneously, effortlessly, and, most importantly, face-to-face.

I remember a time when our neighbors weren’t just the people who lived next door but an extension of the family. They greeted us by name, not username, and when we went away, they didn’t just take in the mail; they kept an eye on the place like it was their own.

If someone new moved in, they didn’t have to introduce themselves via a social media bio—we brought over a casserole and got to know them the old-fashioned way, preferably over a cup of coffee and a slice of homemade pie.

But somewhere along the way, we traded our front porches for back patios, swapping open conversations for fenced-in solitude. Now, we step out into our backyards, shielding ourselves from the world with wooden planks, privacy screens, and an unspoken reluctance to engage. And if we do interact? It’s often through curated posts, carefully filtered to show only the best moments, as if our lives are a highlight reel instead of the beautifully messy reality they are.

It seems we’ve also fenced in our conversations. Politics? Religion? Differing opinions? No, thank you! We’d rather keep things “safe” (or just avoid each other altogether). But here’s the thing—community isn’t built on agreement; it’s built on understanding.

The most interesting conversations, the most valuable perspectives, and even the funniest moments often come from people who see the world differently than we do. Imagine a world where everyone thought exactly like you—what a tragically boring place that would be!

Now, I’m not saying social media is the villain in this story. After all, I enjoy a good cat video as much as the next person. But when we rely solely on digital interactions, we lose something real—something you can’t get from a screen. A neighbor’s knowing smile when they see you struggling with your trash cans. A spontaneous chat about the weather that somehow turns into a 30-minute conversation about life. The comfort of realizing that, no matter our differences, we’re all just human, trying to figure it out as we go.

So this April, let’s take a step—literally—toward rediscovering real connection. Open the front door, wave at a neighbor, maybe even strike up a conversation. It doesn’t have to be profound; it just has to be real. Who knows? You might just find that the best social network has been right outside your front porch all along.

Check Under Your Hood… Before The Critters Do!

Spring is here! Time to break out the convertibles, summer cruisers, and—if you work from home and haven’t left the house since Christmas (we see you)—your daily driver. But before you hit the road, pop the hood.

Why? Because we’ve found full-blown squirrel AirBnBs inside engines. Yep. Tiny tenants, rent unpaid, with very questionable wiring skills. And the reason the car was in our shop? Drivability issues… caused by some very questionable rodent renovations.

So, before you end up stranded give your engine a once-over. If you find something fuzzy where fuel injectors should be—well, you know where to find us.

A Quote From Cindi

Words of Wisdom, Much Like a Good Road Trip, Guiding us Forward!

“A meaningful life is not about being rich, being popular, being highly educated or being perfect. It’s about being real, being humble, being strong and being able to share ourselves and touch the lives of others” — Unknown

April Showers Bring … The Sudden Realization That Your Wipers Are Useless

Ah April — It’s as if we all woke up in Seattle or London overnight. And while we love the idea of April showers leading to May flowers, let’s be real—if your windshield wipers are streaking, or if your washer fluid is emptier than your motivation to do yard work, you’re in for a rough ride.

Windshield Wipers

When’s the last time you changed your wipers? If your answer is, “Uh... I think before that one road trip? —it’s time. Wiper blades wear out faster than you think, especially after winter’s abuse. If they’re skipping, streaking, or making that awful screeching noise that sends chills down your spine, they need to go. Because the only thing worse than April showers? Not being able to see through them.

Washer Fluid

Let’s not forget washer fluid! You never know when you’ll get hit with a sudden mud splash, rogue bug swarm, or unexpected pollen. Keep that wiper fluid full, or get ready for a game of ‘Guess What’s in Front of Me!’ Spoiler alert: It’s probably a mailbox.

Point is — keep your washer fluid topped off.

SCAM:Toll Payment”

Ever get one of those sketchy texts claiming you owe money for a toll you definitely don’t remember driving through? Something like "The Toll Roads Notice of Toll Evasion: You have an unpaid toll bill on your account. To avoid late fees, pay within 12 hours or the late fees will increase and be reported to the DMV."

 DON’T FALL FOR IT!

This is a scam trying to scare you into clicking a shady link. Real toll agencies don’t text threats—especially not with deadlines tighter than rush hour traffic.

What to do?

Ignore it. Delete it. Maybe even laugh at how bad scammers are at making their messages believable. But whatever you do—DON’T CLICK.

Stay safe out there, and remember, the only thing worse than a scam is an unexpected pothole.

“Best foreign car auto repair shop in the area. From a customer service perspective to turn time and pricing I have never had a better experience. Either Porsche or Audi can compare. I would not take my cars anywhere else.”

— Brian M

“I had a problem with my coolant system with my 2018 bmw 330i. I am not from the area and was out visiting my boyfriend. I made them aware of this and they were on top of everything! Their mechanic was putting time aside to fix my bmw after hours! I took it into them on monday and managed to get my coolant system, my struts and lever arm done on my car by FRIDAY! I am so extremely grateful for everyone who was in there. They were nothing but kind, they kept me updated on everything and especially made sure I understood everything that they were doing! I would 110% recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Whenever I am out near them again and have any issues or just need an inspection I will most certainly be taking my car back to them!! Thank you guys for everything and for being so dedicated to your job!!”
